Apparently, brick-and-mortar stores are not trying to match e-commerce
in this arena. I specifically asked a Micro Center manager if they would
match on-line pricing, and he said that the wouldn't even try.
I can understand that since the overhead for a brick-and-mortar store is
significantly higher. E-commerce sites can direct order on demand from a
warehouse, and don't have to maintain a showroom and the sales staff
required to man it. Warehouse space is much less expensive than
storefront space, especially when you consider that the warehouse can be
located in Lower East Slobovia and the parts can be shipped essentially
overnight to anywhere.
