For just a few dollars more, you can run both... It's a simple kit
that was an option on my 35kw Generac. A nice small quiet genset, 
but marginally frequency stable.

Also, don't buy too much generator. Buy an inductive ammeter and see what
the your real load of your NOC is. Double that. One of my local
competitors bought 10x more than they could ever use,.
