Went to MicroCenter and picked up the Wyze Camera Webcam Bundle for $35. It's the Wyze wifi camera plus a a usb cable and special sd card to reflash it to be a webcam and instructions in a brown box
Re-flash, rebooted, plugged it into Linux system, and

Works
!!!
Playing with Jitsi over chromium on a minix box (built-in wifi is ornery broadcom. Gave up and got a tplink tl-wn725n for $8. Just works)
