Here's a test from mediacom in Hendersonville, NC
$ time telnet mail.dmares.com 25
Connected to mail.dmares.com (22.214.171.124).
Escape character is '^]'.
220 plus42.host4u.net ESMTP Thu, 2 Nov 2006 11:35:41 -0600
Seems to work perfectly from here.
